Basic structure must be at least 4 feet by 4 feet wide (excluding handles and skis) and no less than 6 feet tall. There will be no cardboard, visqueen, tarp or tarp-like structures. The racing outhouse must have an open front or back, a roof, a seat with a hole inside and a full floor. No wheels and no motors. No glass. Not more than one half of any wall may be window. No explicit language or pornographic displays allowed on or in the outhouse.
2. THE TEAM: Each outhouse must have exactly five people. One or more of the pushers/pullers may join the race at any point after the start or may cut the course short, but all five team members must cross the finish line together. Each person on the outhouse racing team must be 18 years or older and must provide proof of age. One team member must be riding in the outhouse at all times. The rider must wear a DOT approved helmet. The rider may switch with a pusher/puller as long as the outhouse has stopped and the rider is wearing a helmet while riding. Each person participating in the Perkinstown Outhouse Race does so at their own risk and must complete and sign a liability release form. This event is not for the weak-hearted.
3. *RACE ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is $20.00 per team. All team entry fees received will be used as prize money (see distribution below). In addition, a $5.00 donation is requested on behalf of each team member prior to participation in the event. This money will go to Chequamegon Wildlife & Recreation Club, a local non-profit organization. For more information on the mission of CWRC, please visit www.cwrclub.com. ($20 entry + $25 donation = $45 per team)
4. AGE DIVISIONS AND PRIZE MONIES: There will be four age divisions: (1) 18-39 years, (2) 40-49 years, (3) 50-59 years, and (4) 60 years and older. The total entry fee collected in each age division will be awarded to the fastest team in each age division. A team’s age will be determined by averaging all pushers/pullers ages (years old on race day - no partial years/months will be counted). In the event that the rider will switch to pusher at one point during the race, their age will also be included in the average age. There will also be awards honored to the fastest women’s team, farthest travelling outhouse and Prettiest Potty (most original). Prettiest Potty will be determined by spectator voting at the event.
5. TIMING/RACE START: The race will begin at 1:00 pm. Please be registered in the concession tent by 12:30 pm. Method of timing will be on a hand-held stop watch. Each outhouse will depart from the starting line following the finish of the previous team and announcement. Race order will be determined at pre-race meeting by drawing numbers.

2010 EVENT UPDATE:
The 2010 Perkinstown Outhouse Race is just around the corner. Is your team getting in shape for the big event? I’m posting this letter to let you know about a few things that have changed for the 2010 event.
The event is on February 27, 2010 at the Perkinstown Winter Sports Area. Please register from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, with a pre-race meeting at 12:45. Remember, all concerns will be discussed before the race during the pre-race meeting. With this in mind, please come early enough to give yourself time to look over the competition. Spectator concerns will not be addressed, only racer’s. We can not address outhouse construction issues raised after the race.
Please fill out the enclosed registration form and participant waiver in advance to save time. Mail them in advance or bring these the day of the race.
New in 2010, we will be holding KID’S RACES. We will provide a scaled down, lightweight outhouse for the kids to show off their pulling abilities in teams of two kids. Do not make your own throne for the kids please. The kids will be racing on a short flat portion of the course in front of the spectators. Awards are planned, but there will be no entry fees or prize monies for kids races. Kids age 4 to 17 are welcome to try it out. Guidelines and divisions will be announced at the event. Bring a bike helmet or use the one we have on hand to keep the kids safe.
Pre-order your official Perkinstown Outhouse Race sweatshirt to be sure you get your size. Call Rebecca at 715427-1002.
RULE CHANGES IN 2010: (see enclosed official rules for more information)
Rule #3: The entry fee has increased from $10 to $20 to allow for larger payout and division of ages.
Rule #4: There will be four age divisions and the total entry fee collected in each age division will be awarded to the fastest team in each age division. Example: if there are ten teams in the 18-39 age division, the prize money will be $200 for the winner of this division. If there are three teams in the 50-59 age division, the prize money will be $60 for the winner of this division.
Rule #4: Your team’s age will be determined by averaging all pushers/pullers ages and will not include the rider. If a rider and pusher swap positions during the race, all five ages will be averaged.
Rule #5: Rather than a staggered start like we did in 2009, each team will start the race following the completion of the course by the previous team.
The outhouse race is expected to be bigger and better than ever. Make sure you’re a part of this event and tell all your friends to join the winter fun! Check out what you missed in 2007! 2008! 2009!
